When one first enters the monastic life, one’s resolve is invariably fierce and keen; one must seize this moment and make the best of it to firmly establish diligence and stability. Otherwise, if you drift along aimlessly and let the opportunity slip, you may later become burdened by the responsibilities of managing a monastery, accepting disciples, or handling extensive offerings from followers, and consequently you lose sight of your original aspiration. A practitioner must always keep this in mind.
