I am old and sick, apparently my days are numbered, so my disciples are looking for a place to build a pagoda, and they have changed their mind many times about the location. I say to them: “Secular people go to great lengths to find a burial place of good feng shui because they hope it would bring future generations prosperity and wealth. You guys have been trying just as hard. Don’t tell me that you secretly hope it would bring you such great luck that the royal court would grant you the title of Emperor’s Teacher in Purple Robe (the highest rank for a monk)! The ancient used to simply throw corpses into the wilderness to feed animals, you know. Although I don’t hope to be treated in that careless a manner, I don’t wish to make it into a big deal either – it’s not something a practitioner should be concerned about.”
