On A Mountain Top

On a mountain top I sit alone yet not alone

Watching clouds come and go

Ten thousand blue ridges far and below

Misty haze lingering on

In the open air I gaze afar

Listening to all tales new and old

Nothing unreal nothing real

Light and dark revolving past

Only an ode to joy lasts

Inner Knowing

My hermitage is put up in a noisy town, yet undistracted by horses or crowd

You ask how it can be; I say a boundless mind is a haven of quiet and peace

Picking mums by the eastern hedge, I catch a glimpse of the southern peak

The afternoon air suffused with sunset light, birds taking on a homebound flight

In every line of life, you read the truth

Only the words we speak have no clue
