The Benefits of Quietude (1)

Oftentimes, you’re so busy during the day that things got mishandled, or you’re unable to make certain decisions. Then in the wee hours, you get up to do sitting meditation, and suddenly you realize what decision you should make, or what you have done wrong during the day. Therefore, we can imagine the reason that we are not yet enlightened is because our inherent nature stays covered and obscured by all the busyness.

The ancients said, “Thusness is seen in quietude.” They also said, “When the mind is calm and clear, the nature of mind manifests itself.” How true it is!
