High Noon Thirst

Jujube flowers all over me

Spinning wheels echoing through the village

Under old willow tree, a hawker peddling melons

Drowsy from wine and long journey

It is high noon, I am feeling thirsty

Knocking at a villager’s door, I ask for tea

~ Translated by Dot, from Su Shi’s “Silk-Washing Stream,” a tune written in the Song dynasty
